Someone asked me the other day: “If you could read only blogger who writes on the subject of solopreneurship, who would it be?”
I didn’t even have to think about it. The answer is Rob Place, publisher of Solventurer.com.
Rob works on the front lines every day with solopreneurs, so maybe that’s why his stuff is original, authentic, and—best of all—extremely practical and useful. Combine that with his educational background and fascinating life experiences, and you have the stuff that great writers and teachers are made of. And teaching is what Rob does in all of his posts.
Here are a couple of my favorites from his site:
• “Go Deep, Not Broad, When Considering Your Business Model”
• “The Solopreneur Ecology”
• “The Solo Identity”
And then there’s this gem: “The Solopreneurial Case of Benjamin Button.”
On Friday he posted an article titled “Deciding What Impact to Pursue.” Here’s an excerpt:
When you’re conceiving your business, start with a problem that you would love to spend your time being the expert on solving. While a nonprofit’s problem could be lack of clean drinking water, the solopreneur’s customer problem can be anything…not being able to find an affordable web presence, businesses needing assistance on a certain procedure that is stunting their growth, etc.
Your intended impact should solve many people’s problems…and change the world in doing so.
Rob also wrote what I believe is the best post ever published on TheSolopreneurLife.com: “Coaching vs. Consulting vs. Training vs. Freelancing: Which One Is Best for You?”
If you’re paring your RSS feeds, you can get rid of a bunch and add Rob’s. Your business will be better for it.
Thank you for contacting me.
I will get back to you as soon as possible
