The series of solopreneur interviews, “Featured Soloists,” is back for a second run. If you want to be part of it, please fill out the form at the bottom of this post.
Featured Soloists began in 2010, just one week after I launched TheSolopreneurLife.com. Featured Soloists is a series of interviews with solopreneurs. The concept is simple: ask solos the same set of questions about their businesses — and publish their answers straight, with no editing.
My initial source for solo subjects was Naomi Niles, the talented designer who created the first iteration of TheSolopreneurLife.com. Naomi suggested solopreneur Barbara Milgram. Barbara agreed to do it, and Featured Soloists was off the ground.
Featured Soloists caught on quickly, and it led to a book, a movie that made its debut at Sundance, a musical, and a deal with the Franklin Mint. (I’m kidding about the movie, the musical, and the mint.)
I ended Featured Soloists’ first run in May 2013 because I had other projects that I wanted to tackle — you know how that is!
But recently while preparing a solopreneur Flipboard magazine, I went back and read the old interviews.
As I read the Featured Soloist interviews and clicked on a few now-dead links, I surmised that not all of the soloists made it big. But they all had the courage to chase their dreams.
As I read the interviews, the history major inside of me said, I need to get back to doing Featured Soloists. The interviews are primary sources in the history of solopreneurship.
So that’s where Featured Soloists is today, ready for its second run.
